Battle of Caldiero
Arc de Triomphe: CALDIERO
October 29, 1805 - October 31, 1805
After Marshal Masséna learned of Napoleon's success at Ulm, he launched an offensive to drive the Austrians out of Italy. Archduke Charles commanding the Austrians launched an attack against the French at Caldiero and a fierce battle took place. Afterwards, Archduke Charles withdrew while the French continued to harass his forces, preventing them from joining up with the Austrians in the Danube theater.
