Battle of Orthez

February 27, 1814

Intent on keeping the British out of France as much as possible, Marshal Soult took up a defensive position at Orthez. Wellington and his Anglo-Portuguese army attacked, successfully defeating the French and forcing them to fall back to Toulouse .
