Map of the First French Empire's Growth and Influence 1812

Purple represents the French Empire in 1804 while light purple indicates areas joined to the French Empire between 1804 and 1812. Note that the purple area is already larger than modern France in 1804 due to French armies conquering/liberating areas during the Revolutionary Wars. Blue indicates client states of the French Empire. The marked blue line indicates the Continental System, areas forbidden by Napoleon to do trade with Great Britain in his attempt to bring Great Britain to the negotiating table through economic sanctions. Note Portugal is only involved in the Continental System for a few years thanks to British intervention. The red line indicates states allied to the French Empire for the Russian campaign of 1812. Austria is considered an ally due to Napoleon's marriage to Marie Louise in 1810. Prussia is dominated by France and forced to be an ally against her will.
